Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-based approach to healing stress and trauma.
It helps you tune into the sensations, emotions, and patterns your body has been holding onto, so that stored trauma can finally release in a safe, natural way.
Rather than focusing only on talking about the past, we work with what’s happening in your body right now, helping your nervous system return to balance, ease, and connection.
If you’re used to traditional talk therapy, Somatic Experiencing might feel a little unfamiliar at first. You may even find yourself thinking, “What are we doing here?” and that’s completely normal.
This work is intentionally slow because slowing down is what allows your body to begin telling its story. Instead of analyzing experiences with the mind, we bring gentle awareness to the sensations, impulses, and emotions that live in the body. Over time, this creates the safety needed for trapped energy or incomplete trauma responses to finally release and resolve.
Somatic Experiencing is an extremely gentle yet powerful process. Together, we explore where your boundaries are, what feels like “too much,” and how to move at a pace your nervous system can truly handle. The goal isn’t to push through, but to create space for your body to naturally unwind and restore its sense of balance and trust.
Everyone’s nervous system moves at its own pace, so there’s no single timeline for how quickly results appear. Some people notice subtle shifts after the first few sessions, like deeper breathing, better sleep, or feeling calmer in situations that used to feel stressful. For others, change unfolds more gradually as the body learns to trust the process.
Because Somatic Experiencing works with the body’s natural rhythm, we move slowly and intentionally to avoid overwhelm. The goal isn’t to force quick results, but to create lasting regulation.
Over time, your system begins to find its own balance, releasing old tension, restoring resilience, and building a foundation of safety from the inside out.
Many clients begin noticing meaningful change between 6–12 sessions, though even one session can provide awareness and relief that deepens over time.
Many people assume healing means revisiting painful memories, but Somatic Experiencing takes a different approach. You don’t have to retell or relive your story for your body to heal. In fact, constantly revisiting the past can sometimes keep the nervous system stuck in old activation patterns.
Instead, we work with what’s happening right now, the sensations, emotions, and impulses that arise in the present moment. By gently bringing awareness to what your body is communicating, we allow the unfinished stress or trauma responses to complete safely and naturally.
This process helps your system discharge what it’s been holding onto without overwhelm or retraumatization. You remain in control the entire time.
Over time, this builds a deep sense of safety, trust, and resilience, helping you experience peace not just in your mind, but throughout your whole body.
Talk therapy primarily works through the mind, helping you gain insight into your thoughts, beliefs, and patterns. That awareness is incredibly valuable, but insight alone doesn’t always shift what the body continues to hold.
Somatic Experiencing works from the bottom up. It focuses on the felt sense, the sensations, movements, and impulses that live beneath the surface of words. When we bring gentle attention to these body signals, we begin to unlock the stored energy, emotions, or trauma that talking alone can’t always reach.
In a Somatic Experiencing session, you might notice small physical cues, like your breath deepening, your shoulders relaxing, or warmth moving through your body. These are signs that your nervous system is completing what it couldn’t finish during moments of stress or overwhelm.
Rather than analyzing or fixing, we’re creating conditions for the body to find its own resolution.
This makes Somatic Experiencing a beautiful complement to talk therapy, one that bridges the gap between understanding and embodying change, allowing your healing to integrate on every level: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
I didn’t realize how disconnected I was from my body. I had tried therapy and mindset work, but nothing helped me actually feel different.
Through Somatic Experiencing, I learned how to notice what my body was trying to tell me, and that changed everything. I don’t spiral like I used to. I can catch myself, breathe, and come back to center.
Alicia created such a safe space that my system finally relaxed enough to start healing. I feel grounded, calm, and more connected to myself than I have in years.

I came into Somatic Experiencing not really knowing what to expect. The first few sessions felt strange, but then I started to notice real shifts. My anxiety softened, my sleep improved, and I wasn’t constantly bracing for something to go wrong. I’ve released emotions I didn’t even realize I was carrying, and for the first time, my body feels like a safe place to be.
